1961 Mercury Meteor TV commercial

I am about to save you HUNDREDS of dollars in cold hard cash!

Springs are in the air

Springs eh? Yes you guessed it. The Merc is looking awful wobbly these days. I have been kicking around the idea of lowering the car to get a more aggressive stance. Yes, i know. How aggressive can you get a grocery getter to look. Well at least it's a 2-door and I gotta try sumpthin.

When deciding on lowering your car there are many options.

- Cutting the springs
- Lowering blocks
- Buying new specially built lowering springs
- Air bag suspension
- Drop spindles
- etc. etc.

Interested? Well look no further than Eaton Springs Detroit. These guys know springs. You tell them a few things about your car and they can give you everything from a stock set-up to a slammed low-riding ubercool ride that will perform as it should.

After reviewing a ton of forum chatter i decided that cutting the springs would be a waste of time. The springs are shot and by cutting them you make them stiffer and change the load bearing stats it was made to have. Plus you can only go about 2" before things get squirrely. I am thinking 4" in the front and 3.5" in the back to give it a slightly raked look. The cost of new springs is totally worth the peace of mind. The springs are purpose built to carry the load AND lower the car. It's a win win people. I will keep you posted as things develop.
